Effects of drawing and painting activities using group process on learning achievement in art and craft subject of juveniles in Regional Juvenile Vocational Training Centre (2), Ratchaburi province
Abstract:
This is the experimental research, the purpose was to study the effects of drawing and painting activities using group process on the learning achievement in art and craft subject of juveniles in Regional Juvenile Vocational Training Centre (2), Ratchaburi province. The sampling group of this study were 23 students. The research instruments were: 1) Four lesson plans of drawing and painting activity, such as: drawing (line, shape, form), color, composition and collage, 2) Achievement test for pretest and posttest, measuring content knowledge, 3) Student products evaluation form, 4) Student learning behavior evaluation form, and 5) Student questionnaires concerning painting activity instruction by using group process techniques. The obtained data were analyzed by means, standard deviations, frequencies and t-test. The results are as follows: 1. The achievement scores of art knowledge from post-test were higher than pre-test at the .05 level of significance. 2. The achievement scores of art skills from student products evaluation, all four lessons were rated at a very good level. 3. The result from student learning behavior evaluation form concerning using group process, all six steps: 1) Goal setting 2) Grouping 3) Brain storming 4) Analysis 5) Conclude and apply 6) Evaluation, were rated at a good level. 4. The result from student questionnaire about drawing and painting activity instruction by using group process techniques were rated at a good level. There are same suggestions: Instruction management by using group process can develop the effectiveness of art instruction specially the knowledge and skill. It helps the development of individual skills such as adjusting themselves in learning situation and group working. Students will not only know each other well but also understand their friends, which leads to positive behavior adjustment.
