Abstract:
Purpose : The purposes of this research were : 1. To study the social studies teachers roles in utilizing socialization process for social studies instruction in Bangkok Metropolis and four geographical regions. 2. To compare the social studies teachers roles in utilizing socialization process for social studies instruction in Bangkok Metropolis and four geographical regions. Procedures : A set of questionnaire on the social studies teachers roles in utilizing socialization process which is consisted of check-list, rating scale, and open-ended items were constructed by the researcher. Two-hundred Mathayom Suksa One social studies teachers in Bangkok Metropolis were simple randomly sampled and two-hundred Mathayom Suksa One social studies teachers in four geographical regions were stratified randomly sampled. The obtained data were analyzed by means of percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation and t-test and then presented in table and explanation. Conclusions : The social studies teachers roles in Bangkok Metropolis and four geographical regions in utilizing socialization process for social studies instruction are as follows: 1. Discipline development : The social studies teachers frequently utilizied socialization process in following areas: punctuality, cleanliness, neatness, honesty, responsibility, endurance and occasionally, utilized socialization process concerning economy aspect. 2. Aspiration development : The social studies teachers frequently utilizied socialization process in following areas: displaying competence, self-confidence, self-improvement and knowledge searching, satisfaction of work accomplishment and occasionally utilized socialization process in ambition and progress awareness. 3. Social roles development : The social studies teachers frequently utilizied socialization process in following areas: gratefulness, respect, hospitality, loyalty to the nation, the religion and the monarchy, supporting of democracy, preservation of public properties and awareness of public security and public benefit. 4. Skills development : The social studies teachers frequently utilizied socialization process in following areas: decision making skills, creativity, observance, communicative skills and cooperative working skills. When social studies teachers roles in Bangkok Metropolis and four geographical regions are compared, it showed that there were no significant differences at the level .05 concerning the discipline development and skills development, but there were significant differences at the level .05 concerning the expectation development and social roles development. There were significant differences at the level .01 concerning awareness of public security and public benefit.
