Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to provide a follow-up study of Middle-Level Fine Arts Certificate Graduates from College of Fine Arts. The study included the survey of working status and the investigation of the effectiveness of the working performance of the graduates. The study also included the survey of graduates' opinions about their working problems, their studying problems, their needs and their suggestions about the curriculum improvement. Sampling in this research had been grouped as follow: three hundred of graduates who got the Middle-Level Fine Arts Certificates, College of Fine Arts, during academic year 1970 - 1979; one hundred and ten of the employed graduates' present superiors or employers. Data were obtained by means of questionnaires through mailing or personal contact. In the process of data collection, the questionnaires sent back or responsed by the graduates and their superior or employers were 70.33 percent and 75.45 percent respectively. The data were analysed in terms of percentage, mean (x ̅) and Standard deviation (S.D.). The results were reported as follow: 1. The percentage of the graduates who were employed was 54.03; who went on higher education was 27.01; who were employed while studying was 16.11; and 2.85 percent were unemployed. Most of the graduates engaged in private companies. Those who engaged in teaching career were relatively minor at only 14.86 percent. 2. The graduates were able to apply their knowledge in their working moderately and they themselves evaluated their ability in working at the high level almost every item, except being good leadership and using of general education in working. Superiors or employers were highly satisfied of the graduates' performance, and also evaluated the graduates' ability in working at highly level. 3. The graduates' opinions concerned with Middle-Level Fine Arts Curriculum were at the fair level; and 92.89 percent of them suggested that this curriculum should be improved in objectives, contents, learning experiences, and evaluation. 4. In the Middle-Level Fine Arts Certificate Curriculum, Arts, some courses of English, and Psychology were identified as the useful subjects for working and further studying. 5. The subjects existed in the curriculum but were not useful for working performance or further studying were most of the courses of General Education, courses of Teacher Education, and some courses of Arts. 6. Subjects not existed in the curriculum but necessary for working career were art works, photography, general design, and general knowledge related to publishing, marketing and pricing of work piece, etc. 7. In working career, the 62.84 percent of the employed graduates had some problems due largely to too much job under responsibility. Most of the graduates continued their study in the educational institutions under the auspices of the Ministry of Education. Most of their studies were in the fields of various branches of arts at undergraduate level of which 57.06 percent of them had no problems.
