Abstract:
Purpose : The study was an attempt of the author to construct a simulation in teaching problems concerning selection and utilization of Instructional Media and to seek out its effectiveness from a selected group of teacher students. Procedure : First, the development of simulation and simulation techniques were studied. Second, four selected teaching problems were chosen as follows: 1) Problems of Inappropriated Selection and Utilization of Instructional Media 2) Problems of Utilizing Instructional Materials 3) Problems of Utilizing Projected Equipments 4 Problems of Utilizing Resource Persons in the Community. Third, these problems are evaluated among the Committee for Simulation Model Production for an approval. Fourth, the models on each problem were produced on a set of slide-tape presentation, role-playing, written incident and video tape respectively. Finally, the complete models were validated by the Validating Committee followed by a trial with fifty randomly selected student teachers who had already taken a course in teaching methods in order to prove its effectiveness. Major Finding : Most students participated in the trial appreciated the advantages of the simulation models in providing pre-teaching experiences in solving teaching problems, they agree that these simulation models should be given to student teachers before starting their practice teaching in the real situations. Recommendation : The simulation models have proved to be effective in providing pre-student teaching experience. Teacher training colleges are encouraged to employ more of simulation technique in teaching of simulation and should be promoted for more effective simulation model in the future.
