Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to study the conditions and problems of the early
childhood school curriculum management of the private schools in Chanthaburi. The research
was mixed between quantitative and qualitative research. Regarding to quantitative research,
the samples consisted of 51 principals, heads of academic affairs and kindergarten teachers of
17 different private schools. The instrument was a 5 - rating scale questionnaire composed of conditions
of the early childhood school curriculum management section with a reliability at .95 and problems
of the early childhood school curriculum management section with a reliability at .94 The statistics
used for data collecting were frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Regarding
to quantitative research, 3 private schools were purposively selected to investigate by non-structured
interviews for problems of the early childhood school curriculum management. The interviews
were analyzed by content summary method.
The results of the research were as follows 1) The level of the conditions of the early
childhood school curriculum management of the private schools in Chanthaburi, as a whole
was found in high level (X = 3.89) and it was found in high level in all aspects ( X = 4.33 - 3.53)
2) The level of problems of the early childhood school curriculum management of the private
schools in Chanthaburi, as a whole was found in low level (X = 1.94) and it was found in low level
in all aspects (X = 2.04 - 1.78) 3) The causes of the problems of the early childhood school curriculum
management of the private schools in Chanthaburi found that most schools were recently established.
The teachers were often transferred in and out. Most teachers did not graduate in the field of early
childhood education. Most teachers lacked of knowledges and understandings in school curriculum
preparation, implementing school curriculum evaluation and bringing the evaluation results for
curriculum improvement and development.
