Abstract:
The research's purpose was to study and compare learning achievement and waste education of students' from the quota and the admission by Office of Higher Education Commission. The subjects were 217 students from the quota and 143 students from the admission in 2006. The data were collected from Academic Service Division, King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok. Mean. standard deviation, t-test, Mann Whitney U test and Z-test were employed to analyze the data. The study's results are as follows.
l. Based on considering learning achievement of basic courses, specific courses and grade point average (OPA) of the students from the quota and the students from the admission. it found that there was no significant difference. However, the results of studying the learning achievement of the students from the quota of local area and from excellent learning showed that
there was significant difference at 0.05 (t = -2.651, t= -3.037, t = -2.252). Moreover, the findings
of studying the learning achievement of the students who studied in basic courses from the quota of local area and from excellent learning of Department of Information Technology showed that
there was significant difference at 0.05 (t = -2.553). For the findings of studying students'
learning achievement of specific courses and grade GPA was not significantly different.
2. The total number of honors students from the quota and the admission was not significantly different Furthermore, the study revealed that there was significant difference at 0.05 (Z = - 2.3813) when studying the data from the students from the quota of local area and excellent learning. However, there was no significant difference when studying the data of the students from different departments
3. The total number of the students who graduated on time from the quota and the admission was not significantly different. However, the study showed that the total number of the students who graduated on time from the quota of local area and excellent learning was significantly different at 0.05 (Z = - 2.6657). Moreover, there was no significant difference when studying the data of the students from different departments.
4. The total number of the students who graduated late from the quota and the admission was not significantly different. However, there was significant difference at 0.05 (Z = 2.0839) when studying the data of the students from Department of Industrial Management. Moreover, the study showed that the. total number of the students who graduated on time from the quota of local area and excellent learning was not significantly different.
5. The total number of the students who passed the entrance exam but did not register from the quota and the admission was not significantly different. However, there was significant difference at 0.05 (Z = -2.9207) when studying the data of the students from the quota
of local area and excellent learning. Moreover, the study showed that the total number of the students who passed the entrance exam but did not register from Department of Information Technology was significantly different (Z = -2.5580).
6. The total number of the students who stopped studying because of getting a low score, resigned and did not register from the quota and the admission was not significantly different. However, the total number of the students who stopped studying because of getting a low score, resigned and did not register from the quota of local area and excellent learning was
significantly different (Z = 2.5051). Moreover, the study showed that the total number of the
students who stopped studying because of getting a low score, resigned and did not register from
Department of Information Technology was significantly different (Z = 2.0179).
