Relationships of personal factors organizational citizenship behavior job empowerment and job performance of head nurses private hospital
Abstract:
The objective of this descriptive study was to examine the relationships
between personal factors, organization citizenship behavior and empowerment
towards the job performance of head nurse in private hospitals. The sample size was
111 head nurses in private hospitals. Data was collected by the questionnaire method.
The analysis was based on percentage, mean score, standard deviation, Chi-Square
test, and Pearsons Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The key importance
driver was assessed by Enter Multiple Linear Regression Analysis.
The results revealed that head nurses who had a high degree of organization
citizenship behavior (x=4.18, SD=0.313) and high level of empowerment (x=3.70,
SD=0.508) would demonstrate excellent job performance as head nurse (x=3.98,
SD=0.401). Personal factors seemed to have no statistically significant correlation
towards the job performance level of head nurses in private hospitals. In any case,
organization citizenship behavior and empowerment had a positive correlation with the
job performance of head nurses in private hospitals at 0.05 significance level with a
correlation coefficient of 0.579 and 0.379, respectively. The factors of organization
citizenship behavior and education could be predicted at 37.0 percent of the job
performance of head nurses in private hospitals.
These findings suggest that head nurses should be encouraged to increase
organization citizenship behavior by focusing on teamwork for developmental
relationships within the organization, and encouraged and supported to further their
education.
