A studies on the appropriate electricity management of Koh Chick Island Khlung district Chantaburi province
Abstract:
The objective of this research was to study the energy management of Koh Chick Island in Chantaburi Province. Future electricity demand and generation needs were forecasted and appropriate electricity management systems were considered.
To gain insight into future electricity demand, the existing electricity consumption in Koh Chick island was studied by employing an electricity consumption questionnaire. The result of the study was later forecasted by using LEAP software. For future electricity generation system alternatives SWOT analysis was used to identify the most effective electricity generation system.
The research has shown that the electricity demand of Koh Chick will increase at average rate of 0.0165% a year, rising from 64,519 kWh in 2007 to 83,661 kWh in 2023. For the future electricity generation, the wind turbine system generates up to 11,367 kWh a year. The solar cell system generation rate will decrease at the rate of 0.5% a year, declining from 10,605 kWh in 2007 to 9,741 kWh in 2023. Electricity generated by diesel engines has a decrease rate of 0.75% a year, decreasing from 89,351 kWh in 2007 to 78,375 kWh in 2023. The diesel generator is a major system to generate electricity. The tendency of diesel fuel prices will increase at the rate of 0.046% a year increasing from 28.74 Baht in 2007 to 48.35 Baht in 2023. Given three results, the electricity generation system will be increased the production cost. Therefore, the solar cell system is recommended as the most appropriate to be used in Koh Chick Island
