Land evaluation for rice cultivation of Saraburi province
Abstract:
This research was done on land evaluation for rice cultivation in Saraburi
province. The study area was aquic-subgroup soils.Land evaluation was based on
arithmetic procedure to fine suitable areas. Crop yield and gross margin analysis
were considered in socio – economic terms.
The result found that nearly half (48.93%) of the study area was highly
suitable for irrigated and rainfed rice cultivation.Crop yield and gross margin
analysis ,were highly suitable in irrigation area where land productivity was about
1,610 kg/rai/year. Besides highly suitable areas , land productivity was about 619
kg/rai/year in non-irrigation area. Land utilization types for irrigated and rainfed
rice cultivation were not on the debit side.
Comparison was done in 3 procedures 1) arithmetic procedures 2) land
productivity index and 3) rice crop yield classification in Thailand .It was found
that the comparison between rice crop yield classification in Thailand and
arithmetic procedures was harmonious , with the suitable area of 66.61%. of the
study area.
Present land use was compared with the most suitable area. The research
found that 22.36 % of the most suitable area was being misused. The best land
use practices were found in Amphoe Nhong Khae , Sao Hi and Ban Mo ,
respectively.
