Abstract:
The objective of this research is to study why young ladies have chosen to
become prostitutes, their knowledge level of health issue, their ideas and perceptions
about AIDS and how to protect the decease, their values and visions toward
prostitution, as well as to study Ethics and Voral of prostitutes.
The research has found 2 main factors that has brought them to prostitutionpoverty
and consumerism. Poverty has long been a major factor it. Consumerism is
the second factor. Prostitutes who fall into consumeristic behavior actually have
adequate means for living, but, volunteer to become prostitutes because it pays extra
bills and they get extra money to fulfill their luxurious life style. Western culture
surely has a huge effect on this behaviour which affects all levels of societs. The
government is trying to build a developed country but they also need to develop the
people’s ethical and spiriteal values. The chang in ethics and morals of Thai society
has encouraged parents to accept that prostitution will not only bring their daughters a
better life but at also will bring a better life to them as well, as a pay back so to speak.
These problems need to be resolved, and the major problem is the consumerism that
comes with a growing economy. On health issues, the women were concerned about
AIDS but know to protect Themselves
