women’s political participation and the relationships between the population
characteristics, the perception of political information, membership of a group/
organization to the opinion of Bangkok people. The sample for this study included 1,200
Bangkok people, aged 18 years and older, who were chosen using simple random
sampling. Questionnaires were used to collect data. The statistical analysis were
descriptive and multiple regression analysis.
Results revealed that the opinion of Bangkok people toward women in political
participation is medium. The factors which related to opinion toward women in political
participation among the 16 independent variables included in the model showed that only 4
independent variables had statistical relationship with the opinion toward women’s
political participation. Perception of political information variable and membership in
community group had a statistically positive relationship, at 0.05 significance. But salary
and membership of cooperative group had a negative relationship. These 4 independent
variables could account for only 23.1 percent of the variance.

dealing with women’s civil right should be revised frequently and the need for women’s
political participation should be emphasized. The membership of a group/organization
should be promoted for Bangkok people. Moreover, clear and accurate information should
be continuously available for Bangkok people, in order to improve their opinion toward
women’s political participation.
