Design and development of information systems via internet case study Master of Science Programme in Technology of Information System Management, Mahidol University
Abstract:
The objective of this research was to design and develop information systems
for a Master of Science Programme in Technology of Information System
Management, so that the system could be used via internet.
The research began with the study and analysis of the problems of the present
system. A new system was then developed to solve problems by simulating the present
system which was based on the Windows 2000 operating system. The Web page was
created with ASP technology (Active Sever Page) and the database system was created
with Microsoft SQLServer 2000. Also, the web page and database were linked by
using ActiveX Data Objects (ADO).
The result of the research is an information system, which can be used via
internet. The information consists of two parts. Part one is for teachers, students, and
general users and consists of news, detail of curriculum, description of thesis writing,
internal mailing system, a retrieve thesis document option, and document and form
downloads. Part two is for an administrator to add, edit, and delete information in the
database system. The system can accommodate all users receiving all of the
information. The completed information system was evaluated by students from the
Master of Science Programme in Technology of Information System Management,
Mahidol University by the use of questionnaire. The evaluation of the application
found that it was able to support all of the objectives and cover the proposed scope and
students were satisfied with the information system.
