Abstract:
This study concerns peoples satisfaction with the implementation of the community police project. The purposes are to study the satisfaction of people with the implementation of the community police project and to examine the relationships of perceptions of the community police project, participation in community activities, and attitude with police officers to peoples satisfaction with the implementation of the community police project. Data were collected in Nakornpathom province. Research subjects were 311 people living in tambons where a community police project had been implemented. Multistage and simple random sampling were used as sampling techniques. An Interview Questionnaire was used in this study. One part consisted of items about demographics including sex, age, education, religion, marital status, occupation, and position in the community; the other part consisted of items concerning psychosocial aspects which include perceptions of the community police projects, attitude with police officers, participation in community activities, and peoples satisfaction with the implementation of community police project. Statistics used for data analysis were frequency distribution, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Pearsons correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. Findings indicated that people have a rather high level of satisfaction with the implementation of community police project. Perceptions of the community police project and attitude with police officers were positively related to peoples satisfaction with the implementation of community police project at a significant level of .05. No significant relationship between participation in community activities and peoples satisfaction with the implementation of community police project was found. Perceptions of the community-police projects and attitude with police officers were significant predictors of peoples satisfaction with the implementation of community police project. These two predictors accounted for 46% of the variance of peoples satisfaction with the implementation of community police project. Among these two variables, attitude with police officers was the best predictor.
