Effects of the parents' behavioral development program on food consumption behavior of grade I students in Anuban Ratchaburi, Ratchaburi province

Abstract: Food consumption behavior of children is affected by the family child rearing pattern and parents' interest in the child’s food consumption. This quasi - experimental research was set up with the purpose of studying the effects of the parents’ behavioral development program on the food consumption behavior of grade 1 students in Anuban Ratchaburi, Muang district, Ratchaburi province. Samples were selected using simple random sampling method. They were divided into two groups. There were 20 parents in the experimental group and 36 parents in the comparison group. Parents in the experimental group participated in the two sessions of the participatory learning program. Data were collected by using questionnaires before and after the experiment. Descriptive statistics: t-test and paired t-test were used for data analysis. Results showed that parents in the experimental group had a higher score in knowledge concerning food preparation for children than before the experiment and than the comparison group. Parents' attitude and behavior were not statistically and significantly different between before and after the experiment or between both groups. The score of food consumption behavior at home of the experiment group after the program was statistically higher than before the experiment and the comparison group at the .01 level ( p-value <.001). The study suggests that the application of the participatory learning program for the parents was beneficial in improving the food consumption behavior of the school children. In addition, further research should followed up the food consumption behavior of the children in the experimental group over a long period.

Abstract: พฤติกรรมการบริโภคอาหารของเด็กเป็นผลมาจากพฤติกรรมการเลี้ยงดูในครอบครัว และการ เอาใจใส่ในการดูแลเรื่องอาหารของบิดามารดา การวิจัยกึ่งทดลองนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาประสิทธิผล ของโครงการพัฒนาพฤติกรรมผู้ปกครองในการส่งเสริมพฤติกรรมการบริโภคอาหารนักเรียน ชั้นประถม ศึกษาปีที่ 1 โรงเรียนอนุบาลราชบุรี จังหวัดราชบุรี เลือกตัวอย่างโดยการสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบง่าย (Simple Random Sampling) เป็นกลุ่มทดลองและกลุ่มเปรียบเทียบ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการทดลอง ได้แก่ โครงการ อบรมบิดามารดาโดยใช้การเรียนรู้อย่างมีส่วนร่วมในการส่งเสริมพฤติกรรมการบริโภคอาหารของนักเรียน จำ นวน 2 ครั้ง ทำ การเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยใช้แบบสอบถาม ความรู้ เจตคติและพฤติกรรมของบิดา มารดาในการจัดอาหารให้บุตรบริโภค ก่อนและหลังการอบรม วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลทั่วไป โดยใช้สถิติเชิง พรรณนา แจกแจงความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ยและส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน ด้วยสถิติ pair t-test ผลการวิจัย พบว่า กลุ่มทดลอง มีคะแนนความรู้ สูงขึ้น มากกว่าก่อนการทดลองและสูงกว่า กลุ่มเปรียบเทียบ รวมทั้งคะแนนพฤติกรรมการบริโภคอาหารของนักเรียนที่บ้านในกลุ่มทดลองสูงกว่า ก่อนทดลองและสูงกว่ากลุ่มเปรียบเทียบ ส่วนเจตคติและพฤติกรรมการบริโภคอาหารไม่แตกต่างกัน ระหว่างก่อนและหลังการทดลองและไม่แตกต่างกันระหว่างกลุ่มทดลองและกลุ่มควบคุมอย่างมีนัยสำ คัญ ที่ระดับ .05 ข้อเสนอแนะจากการวิจัยนี้ ควรมีการประยุกต์ใช้กระบวนการเรียนรู้อย่างมีส่วนร่วมในกลุ่ม บิดามารดาในการจัดหาอาหารสำ หรับบุตรเพื่อพัฒนาพฤติกรรมการบริโภคอาหารของเด็กวัยเรียนและควร ติดตามพฤติกรรมการบริโภคอาหารของเด็กวัยเรียนในกลุ่มทดลองในระยะยาวต่อไป
