The Effect of social entrepreneur characteristics principles of good governance and fair trade principles on social enterprise performance of the Thaicraft fair trade producer groups
Abstract:
The research consists of following objectives: (1) to study the effect of demographic factors on social enterprise performance and (2) to study the effect of social entrepreneur characteristics, principles of good governance and fair Trade Principles on social enterprise performance. The conceptual framework in this study is developed from Michael Bull (2007), Vasudha Vasakarta (2008), Alper Özer, Akin Koçak and Orhan Çelik (2006), and Linda Mayoux and Peter Williams (2001). The questionnaires were designed and sent to ThaiCraft fair trade producers. The 141 qualified questionnaires were received with 85.45% rate of respondent. Descriptive statistic describes the different demographic and social enterprise performance of the respondents by frequencies distribution such as percentage, mean and standard deviation; also compare means by the One-Way ANOVA statistics, Brown-Forsythe and LSD. Regression analysis used in order to test the different between social entrepreneur characteristics, principles of good governance, fair trade principles and social enterprise performance. The finding in this research found that the agreement level of social entrepreneur characteristics, principles of good governance, fair trade principles and social enterprise performance are all at the level of highly agree. Moreover, the study found that age has significant effect on social enterprise performance. Furthermore, the study also found that in terms of social entrepreneur characteristics, principles of good governance and fair trade principles also have significant effect on social enterprise performance as well. This study suggests the idea for further study that should study in the other social enterprise sectors such as in the fields of health & social care, education, environment, food & drink, networking, disability, business support, ICT or tourism which will help the study on social enterprise in Thailand becomes more variety and covers most of the existing social enterprise sectors. And due to the time constraint, the further studies should have more time to collect the data in order to acquire more accurate result.
