Abstract:
The study aims to survey and analyze cost and return in educational management of 14 secondary schools for Mattayom Suksa 1-6 in Nong Khai educational area, area 1 in educational year 2004, categorizing by size; based on number of students. Data was collected from interviewing following, following a questionnaire, the management or heads of financial and accounting department and analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, and mean difference t-test at significant level 0.05.The analyses illustrate that the educational management of the size-5 secondary schools in Nong Khai educational area, area 1, gain higher revenue, cost, and return than that of size-4 schools. The highest capital expenditure of schools in both analyzed size is the building for educational purpose. The break-even analyses of the size-4 and size-5 schools yield that their revenue will cover all their incurred cost when they had 370 and 704 students, respectively. The return on asset analysis and the operating profitability analysis indicate that size-5 schools have more efficient administration than size-4 schools do. However, schools in both sizes suffer from losses. In addition, the test of hypothesis by mean different t-test method confirms that the differences of the schools sizes are the cause of the differences of the variable cost per school at significant level 0.05. On the contrary, the operating profitability does not vary with the differences of the school sizes.
