Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to study relationship between the quality of sleep, factors disturbing sleep among the chronic hemodialysis patients patients in government hospital, Chonburi province. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 90 subjects during April to June 2007. The research instruments used for data collection were interview from of 3 parts : the Demographic Data Record and Health Data Record form, The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) by Tawanchai Jirapramukpitak and Waran Tanchaiswad (1997) with using Test-retest reliabilities method the value of coefficient of stability is .85 the Factors Disturbing Sleep Assessment Form developed by the researcher which approved by the panel of experts with the values of interrater agreement of .81 and the values of content validity index obtained .81. The reliability of the assessment form were obtained by Cronbach's alpha coefficient with the value of .87. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze data in term of frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Since the Quality of sleep (PSQI score) was not normal distribution curve, Sperman's rank correlation was used to analyze the data. The major finding were as follows:1. There were 62.6% of subjects having a poor quality of sleep and the rest of them, 37.8% had good quality of sleep were classified by The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI)criteria.2. The various factor disturbing sleep at the most for physical domain was body pain, for psychosocial domain was depression and boring mood, and environmental domain was temperature, too hot or cool in sleeping area.3. The physical domain of factor disturbing sleep influences was positively related as moderate level to PSQI score, environment domain was positively related as low level to PSQI score with the Spearman's rank correlation coefficient of .389 and .260, respectively(p<.01). the environment domain of factor disturbing sleep influences was positively related as low level to PSQI score with the Sperman's rank correlation coefficient of .205 (p<.05) (PSQI score too high is meaning to poor quality of sleep).
