Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to examine the level of organizational climate, social support and emotional quotient of head nurses in regional in regional hospitals in eastern region, to study relationship between personal factors, organization climate, social support and emotional quotient of head nurses in regional hospitals in eastern region and to determine which factors could predict emotional quotient of head nurses. Samples were 124 head nurses in regional hospitals in eastern region. The research instruments included demographic questionnaire, perception of organizational climate questionnaire, perception of social support questionnaire, and emotional quotient questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistic, Chi-square, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and Standardized multiple regression analysis.Research findings were as follows:1. The perception of organization climate was identified as 4 aspects which were Power-Oriented Climate, Role-Oriented Power, Task-Oriented Climate and People-Oriented Climate. Head nurses reported the overall organizational climate, social support and emotional quotient at a high level.2. Education and experience of head nurses were not statistically related to emotional quotient. There was a moderate, positive relationship between Role-Oriented Power (r=.344, p<.05). Task-Oriented Climate (r=.433, p<.05). People-Oriented Climate (r=.369, p<.05), social support (r=.570, p<.05) and emotional quotient of head nurse.3. Factors that significantly predicted emotional quotient of head nurses were Task-Oriented Climate and social support. The two predictors were accounted for 36.5 percent.
