Abstract: วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายที่จะศึกษาและวิเคราะห์นวนิยาย 5 เรื่องของทมยันตีที่สะท้อนแนวคิดเรื่องกรรมตามแนวพุทธศาสนาในแง่วรรณคดีวิจารณ์ผลจากการศึกษาสรุปได้ว่า ทมยันตีได้นำแนวคิดเรื่องกรรมตามแนวพุทธศาสนาอัน ได้แก่ กรรมคือการกระทำที่ประกอบด้วยเจตนา ถ้ากระทำดีย่อมได้รับผลดีตอบแทน ถ้ากระทำชั่วย่อมได้รับผลชั่วตอบแทน กิเลศตัณหาก่อให้เกิดกรรม กรรมก่อให้เกิดวิบากตามมาเป็นลูกโซ่จนกว่าจะเข้าถึงนิพพานโดยการปฏิบัติตามมรรคมีองค์ 8 มาใช้ในการสร้างแนวคิดหลักของเรื่อง โครงเรื่อง ตัวละคร และบทสนทนา โดยใช้กลวิธีการแต่งคือ การเปิดเรื่อง การผูกปม การหน่วงเรื่อง จุดสุดยอด การคลายปมและการเปิดเรื่อง ซึ่งทมยันตีสามารถทำได้เป็นอย่างดี และนอกจากจะเป็นการพัฒนาศาสตร์ทางวรรณกรรมให้กว้างขวางยิ่งขึ้นโดยการนำแนวคิดทางพุทธศาสนามาสอดแทรกในนวนิยายแล้ว ยังให้คุณค่าทางศีลธรรมคือกล่อมเกลาจิตใจผู้อ่านให้กระทำดีละเว้นจากการกระทำชั่วอีกด้วย

Abstract: The purpose of this research was to study to analyze critically five Thommayanti's novels reflecting Buddhist concept of Karma.The result of the study showed that Thommayanti had applied Buddhist Karma concept into her novels' and presented it through plot, characters and dialoque. This Buddhist Karma concept inferred the belief that Karma was the action activated from intention, the belief that good performing would result good effect, in contrast, evil performing would result bad effect, the belief that Karma was the effect of lust, the belief that Karma started chain-effect unless the people followed the eight noble truths of the Lord Buddha to reach nirvana.Her strategies were opening, creating complication, delaying, climaxing, denouncing and closing, respectively. Her novels, not only, extended the development of literature by presenting the Buddhist concept but also morally nurtured the readers.
