The process of developing learner benchmark quality by participatory action research Technique the basic schools under the office of Sisaket education service area 4
Abstract:
The objective of this research were to compare the developing of learner quality standard in schools with different sizes under the Office of Sisaket Educational Service Area 4 and to design action plans for developing learner quality standard using participatory techniques in basic schools under the Office of Sisaket Educational Service Area 4. Quantitative and qualitative research was conducted. For quantitative research, 288 subjects were purposively selected from 97 small schools and 47 large schools under the Office of Sisaket Educational Service Area 4. The selected subjects consisted of 144 administrators and 144 teachers. Survey research was carried out using a five rating scale questionnaire containing 40 questions with 0.83 level of confidence. Descriptive statistics including percentage, mean, standard deviation and Inferential Statistics by t-test were used for data analysis. In quality research, a participatory workshop was held with 30 stakeholders to find out the plan to develop learners standard.
The results of the study were as follows.
The overall perspectives of administrators and teachers working in small and large schools on participatory in developing learners standard were not significant different. Comparing by category, there was a significant difference between planning and assessment at the level of confidence at .05. There was no significant difference between administration and development.
For qualitative research, after the participatory workshop on developing learners standard of Ban Toom School, an action plan for developing learners standard was designed. In the past, the success of former students of Ban Toom School in terms of fine art, sports, traditional culture conservation, patients and save that made every sector very proud. Ban Toom School has been succeed because it has got support in terms of budget from many sectors, it has been working based on cultural community and gets support from the community and its gifted students. The mission of the school was focused on participation of every sector that will lead to students high potential. Brainstorming on curriculum development, group skill training, strategic planning meeting, working based on the plan and assessment will also promote students potential. Vision of the school has a good reputation. Every sector is happy and satisfied. The main projects/ activities that will be carried on are : Saving one bath per day, Subsistent Economy, Big Cleaning Day, Rubbish Recycle, Rubbish Bank and Children Open Floor.
