Abstract:
According to leachate of sanltary landfill cause environmental problems. The good control and remedy are necessary. This study was carried out the coagulation process for applied to be the primary treatment. The study was the comparison of the coagulant efficiency with considered to the optimum condition for leachate treatment and the cost for treatment. In this study, there were considerling 4 coagulants, consisting of bentonite alum (aluminum sulfate), polyaiuminum chloride and lime, as the coagulants in coagulation process to remove the pollutants such as color, turbidity, COD and BOD.The results were found that the average efficiency of bentonite for removing color, turbidity, COD, BOD, nitrogen and phosphorus were 24.75, 63.52, 20.34, 39.44, 6.59, and 30.92 percent, respectively. The optimum dose of bentonite was in the range of 5,500-7,500 mg/L and the optimum pH was 4.0. The chemical cost was in the range of 7,044.1-7,058.1 baht/cubic meters of leachate. The chemical cost by bentonite was the most expensive. While alum (aluminum sulfate) was the suitable coagulant for leachate treatment. The average efficiency removal of color. Turbidity, COD, BOD, nitrogen, phosphorus and suspended solids were 64.22, 92.66, 39.77, 42.26, 14.77, 96.33 and 87.04 percent, respectively. The optimum dose of alum was in the range of 7,000-11,000 mg/L and the optimum pH was in the range of 6.0-6.5. The chemical cost was in the range of 1,934.2-2,377.2 baht/cubic meters of leachate.
