Abstract:
The purpose of this cross-sectional descriptive study was to examine the prevalence of post traumatic stress disorder and associated factors of 286 teachers Meung Yala district Yala province. The self reported questionnaires was used for demographic data, Davidson trauma scale : DTS, Life stress event scale, Personal Resource Questionnaire (PRQ 85) and The Maudsley Personality Inventory (MPI). The SPSS for Windows was used for descriptive and inferential Statistical analysis. Descriptive statistics were presented as percentage, mean, standard deviation, while Inferential Statistics were done for Chi-square test, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson's product moment correlation coefficent. Stepwise multiple analysis was performed to determine for significant predictive factors. The result of this study was found that prevalence of post traumatic stress disorder was 67.1%. Life stress event and Neuroticism scale were positively correlated to post traumatic stress disorder (P < .001). On the other hands, Extraversion scale was negatively correlated to post traumatic stress disorder (P < .05). In conclusion, high life stress event, low extraversion and high neuroticism were significantly factors in prediction of traumatic stress disorder for these studied sample.
