Abstract:
The election is the express of public intention to participate in the politic. People elect the representatives or political parties whose ideology, policy and vision are accordance with theirs in order to apply such ideology and policy as the policies for the countrys administration. The election refers to the advertising convincing people who have rights to vote and making such people know and elect the candidates. There must be proper strategies to win the election, namely, positioning and creating good image to receivers. Presently, the images of the political parties and the images of the candidates are blended. The problem occurring from the election is printed media often placed along roads and such media show insignificant image. The result is the flight for being in the memory of the people. Therefore, the people cannot remember who is an owner of each banner. The persuasive communication is the method that a person uses communication tools to persuade other persons with the purpose of the receivers response. The persuasive communication aims to create changes or influence the receivers behaviors towards certain directions. Such information should be applied to the persuasive methods for election advertising efficiently. This research is to study and analyze the persuasive approaches to be used in designing printed media to meet needs of target groups properly and efficiently. This research has been started from conducting literature review on political conditions, elements and strategies of persuasive communication, elements of design and principle of design; analyzing data and composing qualitative questionnaires sent to experts to answer; and, then, summarizing the findings. It is found that it will generate various and interesting styles of outputs. The usage of pictures, colors, alphabets, element positioning is able to communicate the characteristics of each type of politicians clearly and appropriately through various styles of printed media. In addition, the designs will be unique and more systematic as well as able to create unique images more of the candidates efficiently. Finally, there is the transformation from the research summary to the actual designs. The case study of People Power Party has been selected to be an example and a practice to design by applying the persuasive method for printed media in the future.
