Abstract:
This study was conducted to investigate the degree of work motivation of non-commissioned police officers under the Surat Thani Provincial Bureau. Work motivation was a dependent variable where as independent variables were the non-commissioned police officers personal characteristics as: sex, age, length of employment and education background. Subjects of the study were 350 non-commissioned police offices under the Surat Thani Provincial Bureau. Data were collected by means of questionnaires and analyzed for percentage, mean, standard deviation. T-test was used to compare the different averages of 2 data groups and F-test with over two data groups using the SPSS Program for Windows.
The study results are as follows:
1. Most of the non-commissioned police officers under the Surat Thani Provincial Bureau had an average of moderate operative motivation of the following items ranging from the highest to the least: working responsibilities, work success, self-esteem, abilities of superiors, career advancement, working conditions, work security, policies of the organization and salaries.
2. No different levels of work motivation were reported in male and female non-commissioned police officers.
3. Different levels of work motivation were reported in different age groups of non-commissioned police officers.
4. Different levels of work motivation were reported in different lengths of employment of non-commissioned police officers.
5. Different levels of work motivation were reported in different levels of the
non-commissioned police officers education backgrounds.
