Abstract:
This classroom-based research study was conducted to investigate howclassroom feedback afYects students' language awareness in letter-writing.The subjects in the experiment were 20 students of Mattayom 413 at IslamicCollege of Thailand, Bangkok. The instruments used for data collection were alanguage awareness pre-and post test, students' diaries and semi-structuredinterview.In order to investigate whether classroom feedback was effective, thestudents were taught to correct their own letters using the classroom feedbacktechnique. Their letters were collected and the accuracy of the correction wasassessed. In addition, the results of a pre- and post-experimental stage on languageawareness were compared.The results of the study revealed that classroom feedback helped to raise thestudents' language awareness and significantly lowered the numbered of the errors intheir letters. In addition, it was found that the students had positive attitudes towardsthe use of classroom feedback technique. Moreover, the students' diaries indicatedthis technique was useful, interesting and enjoyable.
