Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to: 1) analyze and synthesize the components of social capital and strengthening social capital in a sustainable lifelong learning society, 2) develop a model of strengthening social capital for being a sustainable lifelong learning society, and 3) analyze the factors and conditions of a model of strengthening social capital for being a sustainable lifelong learning society. The research methodology was the qualitative research by documentary study, qualitative research synthesis (meta-ethnography), multiple fields study, focus group discussion, and in-depth interview. The research instruments consisted of a data analysis form, an interview form, an observation form, a focus group discussion guideline and an in-depth interview guideline. The qualitative data were analyzed and synthesized by using the content analysis. The results were as follow: 1) The components of social capital in a sustainable lifelong learning society comprised human, institution, wisdom knowledge and culture, natural resources, and community funds. The strengthening social capital in a sustainable lifelong learning society consisted of the strengthening process and the strengthening guidelines. The strengthening process comprised trusty participation in problem-studying, trusty participation in decision-making, trusty participation in implementation, trusty participation in benefits, and trusty participation in evaluation. The strengthening guidelines were enhancing the learning of community, building up the strong network, building up the proud consciousness of hometown, and managing the community. 2) The model of strengthening social capital for being a sustainable lifelong learning society consisted of 1. the primary concepts of model were self-reliance concept, participation concept, lifelong education concept, building trust concept, and integrity concept, 2. the components of social capital were human, institution, wisdom knowledge and culture, natural resources, and community funds, and 3. the strengthening social capital consisted of the strengthening process and the strengthening guidelines 3) The factors of a model were the internal factors of people and context of community. The external factors were strong network, supporting from government, and global and local social trends. The conditions of a model were awareness of people, social capital management, and dynamic of the strengthening social capital.
