Abstract:
The objective of this research aims to examine the current state of the import document management process and apply lean concepts to improve the workflow of the document management process in a case study of the mechanical seal importer. This research utilized flow process chart for steps of work process. It also identified to valued added activities or non valued added activities after that utilized a Cause and Effect Diagram to identify the problems requiring improvement and to find the root causes and applied lean concepts with ECRS principles were used to improve the process which included eliminated and simplify by cutout unnecessary process. The research revealed a reduction in the workflow steps from 15 to 6 main steps in the import document management process. The time taken to complete the process decreased from 2585 seconds (43.08 mins) to 680 seconds (11.33 mins), resulting in a 73.69% reduction in the processing time. An analysis of 12 months' worth of data showed that the company could reduce paper costs by 22,039.50 Baht and black-and-white photocopying costs by 24,684.24 Baht, totaling 46,723.74 Baht in savings. This improvement benefited both employees and the company: employees had more time for other tasks due to reduced workload, and the company significantly cut costs, leading to more efficient and convenient operations.
