Abstract:
The objectives of this research were (1) To study the desirable characteristics of school administrators according to the views of administrators and personnel supervisors in schools affiliated with the Office of Education and Sports, Champasak Province, Lao People's Democratic Republic. (2) To compare the desirable characteristics of school administrators according to the views of administrators and personnel supervisors under the Champasak Provincial Office of Education and Sports, Lao People's Democratic Republic by gender, position, work experience, and the size of the school. (3) To study the recommendations on the desirable characteristics of school administrators according to the views of administrators and personnel supervisors in schools under the Champasak Provincial Office of Education and Sports, Lao People's Democratic Republic from 558 people by stratified sampling. The research instruments were interview form and a 51-item questionnaire on 5-point Likert scale. The confidence value of the entire questionnaire was .96. The statistics used to analyze the data include mean, standard deviation, t-test, and F-test.

The results of a study on the level of desirable characteristics of school administrators according to the views of administrators and personnel supervisors in schools under the Office of Education and Sports, Champasak Province, Lao People's Democratic Republic found that overall and each aspect were at a high level. When comparing the opinions on the desirable characteristics of school administrators by gender, different genders had a statistically significant difference at the .01 level. When comparing the opinions on desirable characteristics of school administrators by position, it was found that different positions had statistically significant differences in opinions on the desirable characteristics of school administrators both in general and in each aspect at the .01 level. When comparing the opinions on the desirable characteristics of school administrators classified by work experience, it was found that different work experiences had opinions on the desirable characteristics of school administrators, both overall and in each aspect, with statistically significant differences at the .01 level. When comparing the opinions on the desirable characteristics of school administrators by school size in overall, there was a statistically significant difference at the .01 level. Moral ethics and vision were significantly different at the .01 level. The other aspects were no different. Guidelines and recommendations on the desirable characteristics of administrators were namely administrators should have vision, be able to formulate management strategies, be able to analyze situations in order to formulate strategic plans and action plans to achieve goals and policies appropriately, and be sensitive to information that occurs both outside and within the organization.
