Abstract:
The objectives of this research are: 1) to study the Thammatippatai Schools of elementary schools, 2) to develop the model of the Thammatippatai Schools of elementary schools, and 3) to propose a model of the Thammatippatai Schools of elementary schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission. The combined research methodology was used in the study. The quantitative data were collected from 327 samples and analyzed by percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The qualitative data were obtained by interviews with 10 experts and group discussions with 10 key-informants, and then analyzed by content analysis.
The results of the research showed that:
1. The state of Thammatippatai Schools of elementary schools in all 3 aspects was at a high level totally. The curriculum supports democratic practice; environment and atmosphere management supports democracy, and activities in schools support democracy.
2. The development of Thammatippatai School model of elementary schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission consists of; organizing a good citizen curriculum for Democracy, learning activities, government in a democratic system with the King as Head of State, good citizenship under the democratic way, and 12 core values, knowledge sharing, the council news and information, setting up democratic atmosphere and environment in physical, academic and managerial aspects.
3. The proposed model of the Thammatippatai Schools of elementary schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission consists of 4 parts; Part 1 is the leading consisting of environment, policy, vision, mission, principle, and objective, Part 2 is the model consisting of the work system, three elements of democracy, learning activities and management process in democratic development in school, Part 3 is the implementation process consisting of structures, decision making, assessment guidelines report according to the plan, project, activities assigned to perform, learning process in learning groups, democratic practice in schools, application and expansion the results of democracy in the community, and innovative activities, and Part 4 is conditions for success integrated with the 6 principles of Saraniyadhamma according to the CAES Model.
