Customer-oriented product development of a walking assistive device
Abstract:
A walking assistive product have been introduced to senior adults with various types and designs where the material properties are the main concerned. Since modern life style perceptions of this target group, senior adults, are emphasized on simple and minimal design concepts for the walking assistive pattern. Normally, pricing may vary from time to time, depending on a range of internal considerations where the manufacturers have tried to produce with a larger volume ; price is relatively low. After asking the potential users, strong and stiff with light weight are the main considerations. Aluminum has been selected as the case study in this research, since its material properties are shown as a bright direction for supporting these constraints. Finite element analysis (FEA) was applied for simulating the load distribution happened on the area of interest of walking assistive device introduced in this research. The results obtained from the analysis and engineering design will be presented and discussed
