Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to 1) study the level of organizational commitment of the employees in Seiko Precision (Thailand) Company Limited, 2) study the effects of the minimum wage policy as it affects the organizational commitment of the employees in Seiko Precision (Thailand) Company Limited, 3) study the factors relating the organizational commitment of employees in Seiko Precision (Thailand) Company Limited. This research was a quantitative study and was conducted using a sample of 326 respondents from the population of 1,759 people working in Seiko Precision (Thailand) Company Limited. They were selected by systematic random sampling. The tool for data collection was a rating scale questionnaire and the data were analyzed by statistics consisting of percentage, standard deviation, t-test, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coeffcient. The results of this research were as follows: 1) The organizational commitment of the employees was overall, at a high level ( = 3.54). Considering each individual aspect, it was found that the aspect of willingness for organizational benefits was at the highest level ( = 3.75), followed by the aspect of organizational goals and value acceptance ( = 3.68) and the aspect of desire to maintain organizational membership status ( = 3.33). 2) The effects of the minimum wage policy affecting the organizational commitment of employees in Seiko Precision (Thailand) Company Limited., when classified by employees receiving benefits versus those not receiving any benefits, showed that the organizational commitment for these two groups was not different. 3) The factors relating to the organizational commitment of the employees in Seiko Precision (Thailand) Company Limited were composed of 5 aspects as follows; the aspect of work achievement (r= 0.580), the aspect of work challenges (r= 0.532), the aspect of progress at work (r= 0.508), the aspect of work independence (r= 0.458) and the aspect of work communication (r= 0.433). All 5 of these aspects were positively related to organizational commitment at a moderate level, at the statistical level of 0.01.
