Abstract:
Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) is the multifunction bioactive protein that plays an important role in the treatment of stimulating cells or dental tissues. However, the clearance of protein is relatively quick with a short half-life. The aim of this study was to investigate the protection and controlled release of protein from materials. Polycaprolactone (PCL) microparticles were prepared by using emulsion technique with water-in-oil-in-water (w/o/w), grafting with biocompatible chitosan (CS), and coating layer by layer with strong polyelectrolyte and weak polyelectrolyte. The effects of molecular weight and the type of layers on the protein releasing rate were analyzed by measuring the zeta potential. PCL-g-CS microparticles increased the stability of protein leading to the controlled release
