Abstract:
This research aimed to study and develop a factor pattern influencing the biodiversity responsibility and the firms performance by mixed methods research. The collected data were divided into three categories. The first category was collected by interviewing 27 senior management executives. The second category was data collected from 540 senior management executives questionnaires. The structural equation modeling was applied. The third category was data derived from Focus Group held for 7 senior management executives. The interview results showed that the factors (i.e., firms, humans, societies, politics, technologies, laws, economics and environment) played an important role on biodiversity concerning conservation of natural resources, environment and ecosystem (biodiversity); the sustainable use of natural resources (being environmentally friendly); and fairness and equity in benefit-sharing. These factors affected firms internal and financial processes and stakeholders satisfaction. The structural equation modeling analysis indicated that biodiversity factors directly influenced the biodiversity responsibility. In addition, the biodiversity responsibility factors indirectly influenced the firms performances. Moreover, these factors directly influenced firms performances. The findings from the focus group analysis can be developed as the manual for the evaluation and development of multiple biological activities (Biodiversity) of a hotel in Thailand. This research can be utilized to support and develop the hotel business in term of biodiversity responsibility. Strategic corporate policy and stakeholders participation are integrated into this process to effectively achieve natural resources, environment and ecosystem conservations (Biodiversity) in the future.
