Abstract:
The tourist industry is considered a major source of incomes for Laos. Luang Prabang and Vientiane are two most famous destinations, which attract the great number of visitors in each year. However, recently, the tourist arrival rate has been dropped. This study examines the relationships among destination images, tourist satisfaction, tourists revisit intention and recommendation to others, incorporating both cognitive and affective attribute domains of image perceptions. The mediating effect of tourist satisfaction and overall image perception would be studied in between the cognitive and affective aspects of images and the behavioral responses of the tourists at post-travel level. A questionnaire-based explanatory research approach is used, and the conceptual model is validated by means of a sample size of 400 respondents who have had visited Luang Prabang and/or Vientiane before. SPSS software would be used to study the data statistically, which prioritizes on instrument quality validation and the hypotheses testing. Practically, the research can suggest important stimulus areas, which the destination marketers and policy-makers can make use of, in order to impact on tourists impressions and thus forms beliefs, views, thoughts and feelings.
