Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to study: 1) the level of administrators use of power 2) the level of academic administration efficiency in schools 3) the relationship between administrators use of power and academic administration efficiency 4) administrators use of power affecting academic administration in schools under the Office of Secondary Educational Service-Area 6. The sample was comprised of 342 administrators and teachers under the Office of Secondary Educational Service-Area 6 The tool used for data collection was a rating scale questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis were mean, standard deviation, Pearson Product Moment Correlation, and multiple regression analysis.
The results of the study were as follows:
1) Administrators use of power in schools under the Office of Secondary Educational Service-Area 6, as a whole, was at a high level. Each aspect of administrators use of power was put in order, based on its average score, as follows: authorized by law, power in giving rewards, power of reference, power of being an expert, power of connections, power of being sources of information, and power of enforcing authority, respectively.
2) The level of academic administration efficiency in schools under the Office of Secondary Educational Service-Area 6, as a whole, was at a high level. Each aspect of efficiency was put in order, based on average score, as follows: development of learning process, educational quality assurance, student centered curriculum management, learning evaluation, innovative use of educational technology, internal supervision, and research for the development of learning processes, and learning resources management, respectively.
3) Administrators use of power positively correlated with academic administration efficiency at the .05 level of statistical significance.
4) The predictive variables of a administrators use of power pertaining to: being sources of information, power authorized by law, power in giving rewards, and power of connections, affected academic administration efficiency of schools under the Office of Secondary Educational Service-Area 6 at the .05 level of statistical significance.
