Abstract:
The objective of this study is research in wholesale pharmacy business supply chain and their problem to develop model for inventory management and plan for warehouse design. Following the pharmacys sale and management data found their inventory management problem and lack of warehouse management.
Planning for develop the inventory management model for the wholesale pharmacy, firstly use Pareto ABC Analysis to divide group of goods for appropriate management then calculate for parameters such as Ordering Cost and Carrying Cost. Secondly, use the data of 20 product from group A, the goods that their total sale value in one year more than 80 percent, represent for all goods to forecast goods demand. Lastly, calculate for Economic Order Quantity, Safety Stock and Reorder Point for use in model. This inventory management model show the result of decreasing total cost of management by 2.29 percent and 31.29 percent in value of average inventory when compare with currently administration.
For the wholesale pharmacys warehouse layout design, firstly divided total goods in a group by pharmacology and shape. Secondly use ABC Classification Storage Location Policy (ABC CSLP) for identify storage position by divide in to 3 zones in warehouse for fast moving goods group, medium moving group and slow moving group. Fast moving goods will be stored in area that nearest to entrance for least distance. The effectiveness of new layout design test by assume storage and picking goods activitys time and distance compare with currently warehouse. The result show that, for new layout design time and distance in storage activity respectively decreasing in 33.33 and 29.7 percent. In the same way, with picking activity, new layout design shows a diminishing of 32.90 percent in distance and 28.81 percent in time.
