Abstract:
To study Trade potential for THAI fresh fruit exports to Yunnan province, CHINA the researcher will use mangosteen as a case study because the statistic of fruit trade between Thailand and China is realized as the largest market in ASEAN, especially after there is AFTA agreement opened among its members as well as official opening of 4th Thai-Laos friendship bridge at Chiang Kong city in Chiang Rai province that lead to enhance transportation across country more convenient. The researcher use Supply Chain Competitiveness Analysis Framework to analyze the significant factors affect demand of exporting THAI fresh fruit to Yunnan province and also found that mangosteen production for exporting has gradually increased since 2007 due to high demand from overseas market, especially China market that import Thai fruit gradually increase from 2011 until present. According to huge demand from China market, this is the best opportunity for THAI fresh fruit in overseas market because currently we realize that expanding Chinas economy have positive effect for standard of living, revenue and purchasing power for example purchasing behavior of fruits & vegetables from supermarket in modern trade/ department store, or purchasing THAI fresh fruit which consider as Premium grade fruits. For logistics factors we currently found that the overseas transportation from Bangkok to Kunming City takes time less than 4 days therefore it is suitable for fresh fruits overseas transportation as well as domestic transportation easily distribute fresh fruits from Kunming to other cities. Recommendations from researcher in China export market is about consistent controlling both quantity and quality of importing fruits because demand from Chinese increase year by year as well as Thai government should provide support Thai entrepreneur participate in local exhibition in order to promote Thai fruits to new consumer segments and also develop value added for fresh fruit such as Thai fruits snack, juice and dried fruits.
